PRINCIPAL PATENT ATTORNEY

I specialise in the prosecution of life sciences and chemical patents in both Australia and New Zealand.

I have significant experience in assisting clients in technologies including applied immunology, such as antibodies, immunotherapies and vaccines, as well as pharmaceuticals/small molecules, RNA interference, mRNA therapies, gene editing, microbiome/microbiology, virology, liposomes and other drug delivery systems, transgenic models, diagnostics, stem cells and sequencing technologies.

I have a PhD in molecular immunology from the Australian National University. This follows a Bachelor of Science with first class honours in molecular biology and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University, as well as a Master of Laws with honours in intellectual property from the University of Technology, Sydney. I am a registered patent attorney in both Australia and New Zealand, a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, and am admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

I began practising in intellectual property in 1998 with Spruson & Ferguson, initially as a trade marks lawyer, and then as a patent attorney. I continued working as a patent attorney and then Principal with Pizzeys from 2006 to 2020, before joining RnB in 2021.

I have assisted local and foreign clients, both corporate and government, in a wide range of intellectual property matters including drafting, prosecution, due diligence and opinion work. I enjoy working at the forefront of new technologies and providing commercially-focused expertise to my clients.

I have authored papers on a range of topics, including patenting of stem cells, the Australian Myriad decisions, and legislative changes and prosecution practice in both Australia and New Zealand.

When I am not attempting to politely explain the nuances of advanced conflict resolution to my children, I bravely attempt to hike, run and mountain bike in and around the beautiful hills surrounding Canberra.
